Winter is Coming! Monarch Instrument’s Predictive Maintenance Stroboscopes Can Get Your Facility Ready.

⚙️ How It Helps During Winterization Maintenance
When prepping equipment for winter, detect early mechanical issues that can worsen in cold conditions with a Nova-Pro® LED Stroboscope.
1. Check for Mechanical Looseness or Imbalance
- Cold weather can thicken lubricants and stresses bearings. Use your Nova-Pro Strobe to visually confirm alignment and balance of rotating parts (fans, shafts, pulleys, belts).
- Detect wobble, runout, or vibration that might not be obvious at normal speed.
2. Inspect Belt and Coupling Conditions
- “Freeze” the motion of belts and couplings to spot:
- Belt slippage or flutter
- Misaligned pulleys
- Cracked or worn couplings
These issues can worsen when temperatures drop and materials contract.
3. Verify Operation After Lubrication or Belt Tension Adjustments
- After seasonal maintenance (re-greasing, tightening), use the stroboscope to confirm proper motion under operating speed — ensuring everything runs smoothly before shutting down or leaving for winter.
4. Monitor Fans, Blowers, and Pumps & RPM Speed Verification
- Especially in HVAC and process systems, strobes can reveal blade distortion, buildup, or balance issues on fans and impellers — problems that can freeze up or overload motors in cold weather.
- Verify fan RPM/speed levels using strobe to match FPM (flashes per minute) to fan speed.
5. Non-contact, Safe Inspection & RPM Speed Verification
- Because the stroboscope allows visual checks without touching or slowing machinery, it’s safer and faster — ideal for end-of-season inspections when time and uptime matter.
- Match the RPM rate with strobe flash rate FPM (flashes per minute) to verify speed.
